Mike Rose and Jean Anyon are two very bright writers that have similar opinions on things. Rose feels that wanting to be average is not a good thing, but everyone thinks it is. He feels that the school system has a lot to do with students coming to school bored, frustrated, afraid, and later failing. Rose. And because of this he did well his senior year, and got accepted to a college with this magnificent teacher's help. He thought he would have never pulled it off after the worst three years of his high school experience. It's also ironic to see how Anyon and Rose have things in common. Anyon examined five elementary schools and found varied teaching styles within them, while Rose was experiencing them at the same time.
