Failure of Prohibition in the US.

There were various reasons why the enforcing of Prohibition failed. I will talk about what lead to Prohibition, what it consisted of, and what I think the reasons it failed were. The Anti-Saloon League (a society formed in opposition to drinking alcohol) as a result of World War I had a chance to put their ideas forward with more influence than before. …showed last 75 words of 356 total…on the massive demand for alcoholic drink that was created by making it illegal and 'Speakeasies' (illegal secret saloons were served) became very popular. By 1929, New York City had 32.000 speakeasies. In other words, there was no way Prohibition would work with so many counter backs. To conclude, despite the rise of Al Capone and other gangsters, it was not until the period between 1932 and 1933 that Prohibition was brought to an end, not working at all.
