Psychology is the science of mind and behavior. Although this is the most accurate definition, it is not the most common. If you were to ask the average person what they think of when someone mentions psychology they would most likely say something like "Lying on a couch, endlessly talking about your mother and your lousy childhood"#. there is hardly anything mentioned about any other field of psychology including developmental, physiological, experimental, personality, social, and industrial.
The media has many different forms, all of which in one way or another have contributed to the distorted view of psychology that the public has today. Through TV. radio, newspapers, and magazines people have learned only about on small aspect of this subject. This once again proves that the media's portrayal of psychology is distorted.
