King William I Biography
William I was born on 1797 and lived till 1888. During that time he was emperor of Germany from 1871-1888
and he was King of Prussia from 1861 - 1888. He was the father of King Fredrick William III. William I fled to
England in 1848 due to the revolution in Prussia. When he returned he commanded the army that defeated
the republicans in Baden. When William I's brother was declared insane William became regent and

the end the people started to hate him for his beliefs in miltarism and for his
other belief that he should be the overall divine ruler of Germany. The people began to deteste William so
much that a few attempts were made to assasinate him. I beleive William I's reign was crucial to the
history of Europe because it saw that Germany rise to power on the continent. William I's son Fredrick III
succeeded him.
