The heavy snow the night before had covered the neighborhood in a thick layer of snow and glazed ice. The extreme cold followed by rain prevented anyone from going outside for long periods of time. At night the wind howled and made the windows rattle, like a banshee. The ice was not suitable to make snowmen or snowballs. It would have been a boring winter if my dad had not come up with the idea

the igloo. After about 10 hits the igloo collapsed into a pile of ice and snow. My brother liked to imitate Godzilla, so we began stomping the ice till it became snow.
That was one of my favorite winters. It has not snowed hard enough to be able to make an igloo, but I wish I could do it again. If I could I would remember not to build half of it in my neighbors driveway.
