There were a series of conflicts between the Greek world and the Persian Empire that started about 500 BC and continued until 448 BC. After a long time, Xerxes died in 465 B.C. He was assassinated by a group of conspirators. After his assassination, the eldest son of Xerxes ruled Persia briefly. However, he was killed by his 18 year old brother Artaxerxes. Later, Artaxerxes started to rule Persia. Excluding revolt by Egyptians , he successfully ruled the Persia for a remarkable 40 years (464-424 B.C. ).
