I am writing about the French because they have had quite an effect on me. I mean, I kind of consider myself French. Whenever an American asks me where I am from, their response to my "France" is invariably a demonstration of how uncultured, unintelligent, and/or unknowledgeable they are. The rest of the world has an inaccurate image of them, because it is the face that the French present to the outsiders; an unfortunate flaw in an otherwise great mindset and society that coined the term "joie de vivre", a term that most other languages don't even have their own translation of.
