World War I was a war that broke out in August 1914 when peace was shattered throughout Europe after the death of Francis Ferdinand. The Great War lasted from 1914 to 1918. World War I was the first modern war in which no country fully knew the out comes. They thought it would be over in eight weeks, and they were wrong. They had no idea what the new weapons would mean to the war, and how devastating it would become.
